In the middle of Darkness

There comes a time of darkness in everyone’s life, it is something that we cannot escape from. Moments of roughness, tears, frustration, and sickness. We were not created immortal in fact we hurt and we bleed, emotionally and physically. In moments of darkness, we tend to want to run away and escape from all the pain, the hurt that we feel in that current situation. We always look for a place to run, a way to escape the reality that we are living. Many of us blame God and push him to the curve, because we always expect everything to be sunshine and roses. Or we look for substances to numb the pain or erase the moment of darkness. However, we need to learn that there are things in life that we cannot stop or withhold from happening. Certain things that we cannot erase, numb, or forget. We simply must go through them. That’s the only option we really have, simply moving forward and going through the darkness and pressing forward.
Paul is a great example and through his life he shows a way to get through the roughness and darkness. Paul states “For I have learned in whatever state I am to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer the need” KNJV Philippians 4: 11-13. Paul was able to press forward, when his life was in sunshine, but also when gloomy days appeared before him. Paul was able to press forward and keep his head up and stay sane, it was all because of Jesus. Jesus was his helper, healer, counselor and true friend. There is not one moment when Jesus states in the bible that everything is going to be okay, and that we are not going to be stressed, trialed, pulled, torn, hurt, or sick, he never said that we will be untouchable. In fact, he states “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be great earth quakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven” KNJV Luke 21:10-12. Jesus explained this to his disciples, that nasty, and scary things were going to take place on earth, he prepared them and warned them. “You will be betrayed, even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death KNJV Luke 21:16. Jesus was honest and blunt with his disciples, and opened his heart and informed them of the truth that was going to come, it was not going to be sunshine and roses all of the time, he let them know straight forward that it was going to be cruel and dark.

However, Jesus offered his disciples hope, He offered them redemption and an eternal glory, where there will be no pain, no hurt or frustration, but Love and Gods sweet presence, which is in heaven. Jesus was the immovable rock that Paul was standing on, Paul learned to lean on Him, to call to Him, to cry to Him, also to bless Him. Paul learned to say “I can do all things through Christ whom strengthens me” Philippians 4:13. I will like to end with this thought, the word of God can be spoken and declared over our life, but there comes a time where we can only live by mere experience the word of God. Paul was persecuted abused, mistreated, he had moments of darkness, trials, failures, however he learned to live knowing that Christ was his strength and refuge. We all go through moments of darkness, believers of Christ and non-believers of Christ. The difference in having Christ is that in Him we find, peace, hope, and love, in moments of darkness with Him we learn to dance in the rain.
